Dodgers News: Analyst Predicts Bobby Miller Becomes Biggest Breakout Player of Postseason

It’s about that time again!

The Los Angeles Dodgers are about to make their nearly annual trip to the postseason later this month, and it will begin in the NLDS on October 7th against the winner of the Milwaukee Brewers-Arizona Diamondbacks NL Wild Card Series.

There’s many storylines surrounding the postseason, of course, with who’ll take home the Commissioner’s Trophy as World Series Champions topping the list.

But beyond that, there are also players who introduce themselves to the nation on baseball’s biggest stage.

MLB Network analyst Mark DeRosa named Dodgers starting pitcher Bobby Miller as his No. 1 potential breakout player of the upcoming postseason.

“He is gonna be asked to really kind of catapult this Dodgers rotation all the way through. Anyone who’s locked eyes on Bobby Miller, it’s sitting 100 miles an hour with a wipeout breaking ball. He’s got moxie on the mound. He reminds me of so many guys, the Jaret Wright’s of the world, the Josh Beckett’s of the world. These young flamethrowers who say ‘Here’s my stuff. I don’t think you can hit it. I’m not gonna be nervous of the big moment.’”

For a guy who came out of the gates firing on all cylinders to start his MLB career — he was 3-0 with an 0.78 ERA through his first four starts — him topping that list isn’t surprising.

Miller helped get a previously thin and struggling rotation on the right track, and along the way has become one of the more reliable arms on the team.

There was even discussion that the rookie could start Game 1 of the NLDS on Saturday, before Dodger manager Dave Roberts essentially named future Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw as the opening game’s starter.

Still, Miller’s performance will go a long way in determining LA’s playoff success — and the 24-year-old has shown that he can throw it well in big moments.

And soon, he’ll have a chance to take the ball and show it again with the entire country watching.
