Dodgers News: Chris Taylor Finally Heading to Injured List with Knee Issue
The Dodgers kicked the can as far as they could down the road but the club will finally place Chris Taylor on the 10-day injured list with a knee issue. The move is retroactive. Taking his place on the active roster is infielder Yonny Hernandez.
Yonny Hernández is back in the Dodgers clubhouse today
Potentially related: Chris Taylor (knee) is out of the lineup again today. Since getting hurt on June 16, he has only taken two pinch-hit at-bats, though he was shagging balls in the outfield today— Jack Harris (@Jack_A_Harris) June 25, 2023
While manager Dave Roberts says Taylor’s knee hasn’t exactly gotten worse over the last week, it isn’t getting better at this time. He last got in a game on Thursday, earning a walk as a pinch hitter against the Angels. On the year, the 2021 NL All-Star is hitting .206/.275/.455.
He wouldn’t be able to be activated until the next homestand at the earliest.
On the flip side, this will be Yonny Hernandez’s second tour of duty with the Dodgers this year. the 25-year-old got into one game back in April going 0-1 as a pinch hitter. Down at the Triple-A level, Hernandez has been solid for the Oklahoma City squad. In 47 games, he’s hitting .260 but with a .407 on-base percentage. He has 15 extra base hits and 25 RBI. The infielder has been off and on LA’s taxi squad in recent days while Taylor has been sidelined.
