Dodgers News: Dave Roberts Gives Non-Answer About Immediate Futures of Bobby Miller, Gavin Stone at MLB Level

There’s a new buzz around the Dodgers right now, thanks to the recent MLB debuts of top pitching prospects Gavin Stone and Bobby Miller. While Stone has battled in his first two starts — showing some good and some bad — on Tuesday, Miller was absolutely dominant in his debut.

Miller went five innings, allowing just one run while striking out five. He made it clear that he has the stuff to not only pitch at the MLB level, but pitch well against one of the best lineups in baseball.

After Tuesday’s game, Roberts confirmed that Miller would be making at least one more start at the MLB level. However, he wouldn’t go any further into the future than that.

On Wednesday, Roberts was again asked about the future plans for Miller and Stone, and again, tried his best to avoid the question.

“Right now with Bobby and Gavin, we know Bobby will make another start,” Roberts said. “Gavin’s got some runway as well. We’ll just see start to start. I think that’s probably the safest way to go.”

Obviously, you don’t expect Roberts to look too far into the future, especially with Julio Urias hoping to make a return next weekend when the Yankees come to town. However, the Dodgers are going to have the room for one of Stone or Miller with Dustin May out until after the All-Star break, and with the way Miller looked on Tuesday, if he has a similar start on Monday against the Nationals, I don’t think anyone will want to see him sent back down.

These are obviously good problems to have for the Dodgers, who would much rather have too many good options in the rotation than be in the position they were last week when they weren’t sure if they had enough.

But the Dodgers are going to have some difficult decisions to make in the coming weeks, especially if their pitching prospects continue to shine at the highest level.

  1. Gavin Stone and Bobby Miller have proven to comply
with MLB standards. Dodgers need to optimize their
potential rookies. The oldies should be replaced if Dodgers
wants to maintain their winning streak.

Additionally the lineup is not producing.
Muncy must be batting lower than # 4

  2. We shouldn’t judge Miller on one game, any more than we should judge Stone on his two starts.
