Dodgers Highlights: Bobby Miller Shoves, Bats Get to Strider as LA Wins Series Against Atlanta

The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Atlanta Braves, 8-1, on Tuesday, taking the series ahead of Wednesday’s finale.
The story of the game was rookie right-handed pitcher Bobby Miller, who absolutely shoved in his MLB debut.
Miller went five innings, allowing just four hits, one run and one walk while striking out five. He threw six pitches at 100 mph or more, and accumulated 10 swings-and-misses. He did this against a vaunted Braves lineup on the road.
The Highlights
The Dodgers got to Cy Young candidate Spencer Strider early, as Mookie Betts hit a leadoff double and Will Smith brought him home on an RBI single. Then, the Braves got one right back in the bottom half of the first inning, tying the game up at one apiece.
That would be the end of the line for the Braves offense, but it was far from the end for the Dodgers.
In the top of the second inning, former Atlanta Brave Jason Heyward crushed a home run to right field, giving the Dodgers the quick 2-1 lead.
Later that inning, the Dodgers continued to get to Strider, who intentionally walked Freddie Freeman to load the bases for Will Smith. That turned out to be a mistake.
Smith banged a base hit to left field, driving in two more runs and giving the Dodgers a 4-1 lead.
In the bottom of the second inning, the Dodgers rookie got his first career strikeout, getting Sam Hilliard swinging.
He finished the day with five strikeouts, in an overall dominant performance.
The Dodgers continued to pad the lead in the seventh inning on a Max Muncy RBI single off the wall. Then, in the ninth, they padded it a lot more.
Just Dingers Martinez came up in the top of the ninth, and did what he does best. He hit his third home run of the series, this one a three-run shot that put the game away once and for all.
The Dodgers offense scored eight runs in back-to-back games against the Braves, but they didn’t even need them all thanks to the dominant performance by the Dodgers pitching staff.
After Miller’s great outing, Yency Almonte pitched a scoreless sixth, Brusdar Graterol pitched a scoreless seventh, Evan Phillips pitched a scoreless eighth and Victor Gonzalez pitched a scoreless ninth.
