Dodgers News: Freddie Freeman Reveals Embarrassing Story Behind New Celebration
As the Dodgers beat the Rangers on Friday in game one of the series, fans were treated to an all-new hit celebration by Freddie Freeman and company. The new action when you connect on an extra base hit is dancing… as lame as you possibly can.
And you can thank Freddie for that.
Let’s take a look at the celebration.
After the game, Freeman revealed to SNLA reporter Kirsten Watson that he, in fact, is the butt of the joke that led to the new dance.
“I think everyone might have seen my dance moves at the (Dodgers Foundation’s Blue Diamond) Gala — that kind of went around on the internet. So, the boys have been wanting to do this for a while. It took an off day and all of us at (Max) Muncy’s (Thursday night), having a good time for his daughter’s birthday party that we decided to implement it into the game. And, of course, I was the first one to have to do it. We’re having fun with it.”
Max and Kellie Muncy had most of the team over to their home in Texas to celebrate their daughter’s second birthday on Thursday. Apparently after a few drinks and few good laughs, a new tradition was born.
Whether the new move will supersede the choo choo train celebration the team adopted from David Peralta or the other celebration which we’ll avoid defining here, remains to be seen. But seeing it in action is a fun show of how loose this first place team is as the trade deadline approaches.
