Dodgers News: Julio Urias Arrested for Domestic Violence in LA on Sunday Night
Dodgers starting pitcher Julio Urias was arrested for domestic violence in Los Angeles on Sunday night. Details are sparse at the moment, but ESPN’s Jeff Passan was the first to publically report on the incident.
Details are sparse at the moment and will be filled in as more come in.
UPDATE
From ESPN.com: Urías, 27, was arrested just after 11 p.m. PT and booked into jail around 1 a.m., according to jail records. He was released on $50,000 bond at 4:47 a.m. and has a court date Sept. 27.
Urias, 27, has previously been arrested on DV charges. Back in 2019, he was suspended for 20 games following an altercation with his girlfriend at an LA shopping mall. According to CBS Sports, police declined to charge Urias because there was no physical injury, and because his girlfriend “at no point indicated to either the uniformed police officers or to civilian witnesses that she believed she was a victim.”
On the baseball side of things, this is a massive blow for the Dodgers with one month until the postseason. Additionally, Urias was trending toward a big pay day as a free agent this coming offseason but things will look drastically different now.
The Dodgers are traveling to Miami later on Monday and it is unclear if Urias will be traveling with the team on this upcoming six game road trip. Major League Baseball will likely place the pitcher on administrative leave later on Monday afternoon.
