Dodgers News: LA Prospect to Get First Major League Start in Left Field
With a very comfortable lead in the NL West while holding the best record in the whole MLB, the Dodgers have been trying some new things before the post season gets a hell of a lot more interesting.
Over the past few weeks several players have taken trips from the minor leagues to the major leagues then back or an unlucky trip or two to the IL meanwhile, Roberts has to force some of his All-Stars to take a day off completely.
Nonetheless, its been a very successful year for Los Angeles as they’ve already written their names in some of the MLB history books as well as remain on pace to break a few more records.
When the rosters expanded from 26 to 28 on Thursday, the Dodgers decided to bring Miguel Vargas back up to the Show. The 22-year-old made his major league debut this season but has excelled in the Triple-A’s as one of the team’s top hitting prospects.
In 438 AB’s, he’s at 17 HR’s, 82 RBI’s, 16 SB, and is slashing .304/.404/.511 and has an OPS of .915 in 113 games for OKC.
He’s primarily played third base in the minor leagues but for Saturday’s game, Roberts decided to switch some things around.

This isn’t the first nor will it be the last that the Dodgers turn a few of their players into multi-position players. Take Gavin Lux and Chris Taylor for example this season and flashback to a few seasons ago with Kike Hernandez, Joc Pederson and even last year playing Trea Turner at second when his natural position is short stop.
For Saturday’s game against the Padres, Vargas will join Thompson and Taylor in the outfield. Bellinger is out of the lineup for the day as Roberts moved some players around in hope the former MVP will make some adjustments for the postseason.
If not, then maybe it’s out with the old and in with the new as James Outman and now Miguel Vargas are itching for more playing time in the big leagues.

Question: What do Chris Taylor, Cody Bellinger, Joey Gallo and Sandy Koufax all have in common? ………. Answer: They are all “strike-out” machines. …. (excuse the sarcasm)
Why not call up Outman? Because…?
