Dodgers News: Landon Knack Determined to Make Big Leagues This Season
Landon Knack was out to prove himself to the Dodgers last season that he was one of their best pitching prospects.
Instead of getting the call, the 26-year-old watched others like Bobby Miller, Emmet Sheehan, and Kyle Hurt get their chance.
Knack’s success in 2023, mixed with offseason determination and hard work, raises expectations that his major league debut will happen in 2024.
Beginning the season with Double-A Tulsa, Knack posted a record of 3-1 with an ERA of 2.93. He was promoted to Triple-A Oklahoma City in mid-June and found even more success. He went 2-0 with a 2.20 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and 9.6 strikeouts per nine innings. He threw 57.1 innings across 12 starts.
Knack’s complete body of work last season earned him the organization’s Pitching Prospect of the Year honors.
According to MLB Pipeline, Knack is the Dodgers’ No. 9 prospect. In November, he was added to the team’s 40-man roster to prevent losing him in the Rule 5 Draft. He brings an arsenal of pitching including a fastball, curveball, slider, and changeup. His fastball touched 96 a few times last year but is consistently around 94.
Knack will most likely begin the season in Triple-A but if he builds off of his 2023 performance, it won’t take long for him to finally get the call of a lifetime.
