Dodgers News: Max Muncy Agrees To Contract Extension To Keep Him In LA

The World Series ended less than 24 hours ago, and the Dodgers have already made their first move of the offseason. The team has reportedly come to an agreement with veteran infielder Max Muncy on a two-year contract extension to keep him in LA through at least 2025.

Muncy had a $14 million club option on the table that was pending, but the LA front office decided to bypass that and lock him up on a new deal. This should be seen as a win for the Dodgers, and they keep an important bat in their lineup and on the team.

The team reported that the deal is worth $24 million and includes a $10 club option for 2026.

The veteran was a productive member of the record offense for the Dodgers this season, despite his batting average being less than advertised all year. He finished the 2023 campaign hitting .212 with 36 home runs and 105 runs batted in.

He completely bounced back from a poor 2022 season and made his case for the team to keep him around. Muncy has become a fan favorite, so this extension should make fans very happy to see him return.

Muncy showed that he can still be a powerful presence in the LA lineup, and his ability to draw walks was a welcomed part of how the Dodgers built their offense. Of course, he also struck out a ton, but the Dodgers will take that when he is producing the heavy production we have become accustomed to.

The terms of the agreement aren’t known at this time, but we will update once it comes out.

  1. WHY?? Max Muncy cannot field his daughter! A ‘PET’ player of INEPT LA Mgr. Roberts, Muncy should be traded, hopefully in a package for Nolan Arenado!! And can anyone forgive Kasten & Friedman, the two ACCOUNTANTS, who don’t have a clue evaluating talent, especially when it comes to putting WS championship teams together, for allowing Corey Seager to sign with Texas? It’s simply incredible that the two fools would allow him, a franchise, super-star shortstop, to not pony-up and let him leave! Hispanic fans, who spend their hard-earned money to watch ‘good but not good enough” Dodger teams, should be furious that the Guggenheim “Money-Changer” front office keeps raking in the dollars, drawing 3-4 million, mostly Hispanic fans, every year, but Penny-Pinch with numerous reclamation project signings that are NEVEr going to be good enough to bring a WS banner to LA! Remember, the Dodgers have won ONE WS title in 35 years, and that was with Corey Seager, in a shortened, 60 game, 2020 season.
