Dodgers News: Michael Grove Heading to IL, Hudson Recalled
As the Dodgers and Padres continue their four game series, the boys in blue were forced to make a roster move. Before Sunday evening’s game, the club announced that rookie starter Michael Grove was heading to the 15-day injured list with a right lat injury. In a corresponding move, Bryan Hudson has been recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Grove got the start against the Padres on Saturday night but exited after just five batters (four of which he struck out). It seemed at the time like it was part of the plan, but maybe the injury played a part in his early exit.
This could also be a way for the Dodgers to not option the right-hander to AAA for a third time this season. Just don’t tell the league office about that one.
Grove has a 6.61 ERA over 64 innings this season.
Hudson made his MLB debut earlier this season, appearing in two games for the Dodgers and allowing 4 runs over 3.2 innings of work. For the most part, he’s been solid down at AAA, posting a 2.61 ERA in 36 games. This will be Hudson’s third stint on the active roster and could be an option to be sent back down once Clayton Kershaw returns later this week.
He was originally drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the third round of the 2015 draft.
