Dodgers News: Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman Named Finalists for Major Hitting Award

As award season approaches, multiple Dodgers players are already getting nominated for some of the biggest honors in the league.

After having two historic seasons at the plate, both Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman have been nominated to receive the Hank Aaron Award. This honor is given to the best-performing offensive player of the year in each league.

Other National League candidates on this list include Ronald Acuna Jr., Matt Olson, Corbin Carroll, Bryce Harper, Luis Arraez, Juan Soto and former Dodger Cody Bellinger.

Both Betts and Freeman have a good shot at winning the award.

Betts has been in the MVP discussion since the end of August and put up the numbers offensively to prove it.

On the season, the Dodgers utility man hit .307 with 39 home runs and 107 RBIs. He became the first leadoff hitter in Dodger history to record 100 RBIs and was fourth in the league in hits.

Freeman also has a really good chance of winning the award as well as the MVP. In 161 games played, Freeman hit .331/.410/.567 with an OPS of .976.

In the NL, Freeman was third in batting average and second in hits. An incredible 14 years into his career, Freeman set a new personal high for stolen bases on the season with 23.

While the nominations were announced today for the Hank Aaron Award, the winners for both leagues will not be announced until the World Series starts.
