Dodgers News: Mookie Betts More Worried About World Series Than MVP

As the Dodgers season continues along, it seems that All-Star Mookie Betts is getting better. He is completely in the groove right now and has been boosting his National League MVP case over recent weeks.

Betts has vaulted up in the race for the award, but his focus is on a more team-oriented goal rather than individual success. He wants another World Series victory for the Dodgers.

“It’ll be cool to win. It’ll be super cool. I’d be lying if I said it wouldn’t be cool. But the No. 1 thing is winning the World Series, winning the division and playing well.”

If he can win both like he did in 2018, that would be the cherry on top of everything. He is in the midst of his best season in Los Angeles and has been a driving force for the team all year.

For the season, he is hitting .315 with 35 home runs and 93 runs batted in. Betts has been consistent since the opening of the season, helping him get to this point.

That consistency helped the Dodgers stay afloat during their early season struggles. He and teammate Freddie Freeman create a strong one-two punch for LA that opposing teams fear each time they play the team.

“I don’t know, man — 2018, that was crazy,” Betts said. “If I can get anything near it, then I know I’ve done something good.

Of course, winning the MVP award would be special in itself, but getting another World Series trophy to his resume would be even sweeter. The individual success will come for a player like Betts, but you don’t always have a chance to win as a team.

As one of the leaders in the Dodgers clubhouse, Betts understands this completely. He has seen the mountaintop twice in his career and still has the drive to get back.

This is what separates him from a lot of players across baseball and why the Dodgers are so happy that he is a part of their roster.
