Dodgers News: Mookie Betts Shares Heartwarming Story of Run-In with Dodger Fan

Fans are what makes baseball special.

Without the Dodgers fans, there are no superstars, no atmosphere, no Dodgers baseball.

Hitting home runs for players is special whether it’s their first, last, or breaking a milestone. Well for Mookies 242nd career home runs he created a very special memory for him and a fan.

While on deck in the bottom of the second innings against the Oakland Athletics Mookie Betts struck a conversation with a diehard fan Giuseppe Mancuso. Mancuso told Betts that if he were to hit a home run right now he will have his daughter’s middle name be Mookie.

“I turned around and told him, ‘No, don’t do that, man, Your wife wouldn’t like that.’”

Then, in a 2-1 count, the superstar Mookie Betts who is having an amazing season slugging at the plate hit the longest home run he has hit as a Dodger, 436 feet.

A bet is a bet, and a good gambler will never forget.

When Mookie found this tweet he was taken aback, seeing that the fan had really kept his word and know Giuseppe Muncuso’s first daughter is named Francesca Mookie Mancuso.

Mookie took to Twitter this morning to describe his side of the story.

In just four years with the Dodgers, Mookie Betts is cementing himself as an all-time Dodgers legend that is not only making memories on the field but in fans’ lives as well.

“I can’t wait to meet Francesca,” Betts said. “That’s going to be my girl.”
