Dodgers News: Walker Buehler Dazzles in Second Injury Rehab Start

Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed ace Walker Buehler is getting closer to returning to a big league mound. Buehler did great in his first rehab start, and his second rehab start on Saturday was even better.

The 29-year-old continued to make strides in his recovery process and led the Oklahoma City basketball club to a victory, 4-3, over Albuquerque. His second start came less than a week from his first start, and he dazzled in it, showing he is indeed getting back to form.

The two-time All-Star tallied 65 pitches in 4.2 innings pitched. He only allowed two hits, zero walks and zero runs with six strikeouts. Buehler was knocked out of the game due to a bloop single just before he could retire Albuquerque in the fifth inning.

Buehler is expected to return to the big leagues sometime next month. The former first-team All-MLB member missed the last season and a half due to Tommy John surgery. It has been a long road to recovery; however, the day is slowly arriving, and the excitement is palpable. The right-handed ace is showing us he could pick up where he fell off before his second Tommy John surgery.

Buehler’s next step is to ramp up for nine potches before joining LA’s elite rotation alongside Tyler Glasnow, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Bobby Miller. The Dodgers will arguably get back their best pitcher soon, and what an addition it will be for the Boys in Blue. If the starting rotation stays healthy, they certainly will be the best in the league.
