Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts Reveals Timeline for Brusdar Graterol’s Return
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has revealed a timeline for the return of reliever, Brusdar Graterol. Roberts told reporters, including The Athletic’s Fabian Ardaya, that the flamethrowing righty is expected to return when he is eligible in late May.
Graterol was moved to the 60-day injured list Tuesday. The move cleared a spot on the Dodgers’ 40-man roster for Nick Ramirez, a left-handed reliever acquired from the New York Yankees on Tuesday.
Graterol, 25, was cleared to throw off a mound for the first time since landing on the IL with right shoulder inflammation. The right-handed flamethrower is eligible to return May 18. According to Roberts, he is on track to do so.
Graterol only pitched in one game during spring training. In his lone appearance, he threw seven pitches and allowed one walk, zero hits, and zero runs. In his career as a Dodger, he holds a 10-8 record, 2.69 ERA, 3.24 FIP, 131 strikeouts, and a 1.04 WHIP in 171 games.
The young right-handed pitcher is among the best relievers on the team. Last year he was one of four Dodgers pitchers to throw a baseball 100 mph or faster, so regaining velocity is essential to Graterol’s recovery. If he can return sooner rather than later, the Dodgers’ bullpen will be as strong as ever.
