Dodgers: Papa Cantella Introduces New Dodger Dog to Los Angeles

In late April, the news broke that the Dodgers and Farmer John had ended their partnership and then in May, it was revealed that baseball’s most iconic stadium food was now being produced by Papa Cantella’s Sausages. This week, Papa Cantella announced that packaged Dodger Dogs will now be available for purchase at grocery stores throughout Southern California.

We at Dodgers Nation took part in Papa Cantella’s Dodger Dog launch event held at Golden Road Brewery this past Wednesday. At the event, we had the opportunity to interview Papa Cantella’s President, Tony Cantella, who gave us an inside look at the development of the new Dodger Dog. Plus, Tommy Lasorda’s involvement in finding the new Dodger Dog.

We’ve had near half a season with Cantella as the new Dodger Dog purveyor and honestly so far so good. The biggest issues with the new dog at Dodger Stadium early involved ballpark issues more than anything with the actual food. As the stadium has ramped back up to full capacity and staffers have gotten used to the demand, it seems like things have been much more positive!

Bringing together two key Dodger food staples, Papa Cantella’s has sold over 300,000 Dodger
Dogs so far in its inaugural season as the official partner. Every fan knows Dodger Dogs pair best
with a Golden Road Dodger Blonde Ale making this event the perfect away game experience.

Founded in 1980, and located in Vernon, CA, Papa Cantella’s is a family owned and operated
manufacturer specializing in premium sausages and prepared foods.
