Dodgers Post Game: Max Muncy Powers LA to Fifth Straight Win Over Giants
The Dodgers started the month of August with the same dominance they showed in July. After going 21-5 over the last 31 days, the Dodgers flew to San Francisco in hopes of of winning their fifth-consecutive game against the Giants. They did just that, as a 8-2 win over their division rivals set the tone for a pivotal series.
Andrew Heaney Starts It Off Right
Heaney continued to progress in his second start off of the IL. After an excellent return against the Washington Nationals his last time out, Heaney threw 4 solid innings and struck out seven on 74 pitches. If he can continue to stay healthy, Heaney will play a significant role for the Dodgers in October.
Max Muncy, the Giants Slayer
No matter how difficult it has been to find success in 2022, the Giants always seem to bring the best out of Max Muncy. It wasn’t quite a splash hit for the Dodgers’ infielder, but Max still hit this ball a long way to give his team the lead early on.
Nothing will ever top the infamous ‘Get it out of the ocean’ homer off of Madison Bumgarner, but seeing Muncy have some success will always be a welcome site.
You Can’t Get James Out, man
The prodigious start to James Outman’s career continued Monday night. Okay, that might be a bit dramatic, but the rookie has been seriously impressive in his limited exposure at the major league level. After going 3-for-4 and ending a triple shy of the cycle in his debut on Sunday, Outman continued to do everything except get out.
On Monday night, the talk of the town went 2-for-2 with a double, two runs scored, and a walk. He’s now 5-for-6 in his first two career MLB games with a home run, 4 runs scored, 2 doubles and 3 RBI. Juan Soto, who?
Up Next
The Dodgers continue their series with the Giants on Tuesday night, but the biggest story could be about someone who isn’t even on their roster at the moment. All eyes will be glued to the screen, as the trade deadline is shaping up to have a wild finish.
As for the game itself, it will be Tyler Anderson on the mound for LA against former-Dodger, Alex Wood. First pitch is set for 6:45PM PT.
