Not sure any team goes for 4 years for Justin. That’s not to say he wouldn’t still have the solid plate presence. The problem is his defense is declining a bit per year. And a big thing to me is his proneness to hamstring issues. They will probably increase. 2 years with an option is good for us. A good thing for Justin would be a few things the second year to lock in that third year. Number of at bats or offensive metrics would be good for both Justin and the team.
KEEP J T. HE IS A DODGER ALL THE WAY
Ask yourself 4yrs of Turner at 36yrs old or 4 yrs of Lemahieu at 32 yrs old. If these options are too expensive, then go with a,different player.
Yeah, its funny how some people can make the case for Turner, but here you have another option on possibly a better player who would be the same age as Turner is now AFTER his contract is expires!
I love how DN & it’s podcast sets us up with referring to JT’s negotiations as “Demands”. It’s immediately apparent from the negative headline that the Dodgers and D-Nation are bracing us that Turner is not a priority and we’re being primed for the outcome.
It’s not as if the Dodgers have shelled out TOP dollar for JT and all he’s brought and will bring. This is a negotiation and for the Dodgers and DN to release what they feel will be the most negative portions of his negotiations is really pathetic considering all he’s done and means to this city and fan base. Personally I don’t appreciate the tactic, and JT deserves better. He’s certainly proven to me he’s worth every gawddamn minute and dollar.
I know what Mookie Betts thought about one of his determining factors. It was JT’s preparedness, approach, and focus that helped him decide to sign basically a lifetime contract. How Betts was inspired and motivated and up’d his own game.
Now if the Dodgers want to overlook or pretend those little intangibles don’t mean anything and malign JT’s negotiations as “Demands” so be it, but I completely disagree with the tactic and philosophy. It’s dirty pool.
They need to sweeten the pot on a shorter deal
We need JT
