Dodgers Reliever Had Off The Field ‘Mishap’, Will Miss At Least First Month of Season

Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitcher Edgardo Henriquez showed up in the locker room with a walking boot Tuesday at Camelback Ranch.

At first, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said he wasn’t “ready” to say what happened, just telling reporters he suffered a metatarsal injury.

Then, after the Dodgers’ 4-2 Cactus League win on Tuesday night, Roberts provided a little more information, saying Henriquez suffered a “mishap” off the field.

Roberts also said he would be out 4-6 weeks.

Henriquez, 22, was a candidate to start the season in the major league bullpen due to the injuries of right-handed pitchers Michael Kopech, Evan Phillips, and Michael Grove.

Henriquez made his MLB debut last September, and allowed just one earned run across three appearances in the regular season.

Henriquez then was on the Dodgers’ National League Division Series and Championship Series rosters, making three appearances and allowing four earned runs across five innings of work. His final outing was his best, as he threw two scoreless innings in Game 4 of the NLCS against the New York Mets, a 10-2 Dodgers win.

Now, Henriquez will begin the season on the injured list, leaving another hole in the L.A bullpen.
