The Dodgers have officially placed struggling RHP Noah Syndergaard on the injured list with the blister on his right index finger. Syndergaard has been dealing with the blister all year long, and the Dodgers finally felt that it was time to let it heal. In a corresponding move, RHP Tayler Scott was recalled.

Syndergaard has obviously been throwing through this blister all season, and he likely could have continued to do so if the Dodgers needed him to. However, he’s endured his worst season at the MLB level, so the injured list was the best move to let him not only heal, but also get a mental reset.
After Wesnesday’s game, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts hinted at this move coming, noting the blister and a broken fingernail that Syndergaard was dealing with. He also talked about the potential reset, though, and said that they’re hoping the time on the IL could help him get back on track.
The Dodgers obviously couldn’t keep sending Syndergaard out there, as he was just not capable of getting big league hitters out right now, something he said after Wednesday’s game. Their two options were to designate him for assignment or just put him on the IL for the time being, so they chose the latter.
As for Scott, he comes back after making one scoreless appearance for the Dodgers this season, going 1.2 innings against the New York Yankees.
Hopefully a little mental reset can help Syndergaard get somewhat back on track. The Dodgers had to try something at this point.
