Dodgers Score: Game Updates vs Pirates on Wednesday, Betting Odds, Gonsolin’s Return, Martinez Remains Out

The Los Angeles Dodgers are riding a three-game winning streak, thanks to Tuesday’s 8-7 comeback win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Game two of the three-games series is on Wednesday, and the Dodgers are welcoming Tony Gonsolin back to the mound. Gonsolin was activated off the injured list this morning, and is getting set to make his 2023 debut. He’ll be facing off against the Pirates, who are sending RHP Roansy Contreras to the mound.

Here’s the lineup the Dodgers are utilizing to face Contreras:

J.D. Martinez remains out of the Dodgers lineup with his back issues, opening the door for Michael Busch to make his first career start in the infield. He’s playing at third base, while Max Muncy remains on the paternity list. James Outman is staying in the cleanup spot in another lefty-heavy rotation.

Pitching Matchup

Like I said, Gonsolin is making his 2023 debut. He had a strong 2022 campaign, going 16-1 with a 2.14 ERA and 0.87 WHIP. He has a leading NL Cy Young candidate during the year, but ended up getting hurt towards the end of the season, and never making a full recovery.

He’ll be hoping to have better injury luck in 2023…well, starting now. Here are the full pitching matchups with all the stats on Pirates starter Roansy Contreras:
