Dodgers vs. Royals: 8 Things to Know About the Upcoming Series in Kansas City

After the Dodgers took two out of three games from the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field, they continue their road trip to Kansas City. Since their last game at Coors Field ended at 11:26 pm MDT, the Dodgers will arrive in Kansas City in the early morning hours.

LA has three of their best going this weekend with Bobby Miller, Julio Urias, and Tony Gonsolin lined up to start in the series.

As the series gets ready to kick off, here are 8 things you should know about the history between these two organizations.

  • Jackie Roosevelt Robinson played for the Kansas City Monarchs during the 1945 baseball season. On October 25, 1945, Robinson signed a Minor League contract with the Brooklyn Dodgers.
  • The Dodgers have played the Royals just 15 times over the years and have 9 wins and 6 losses against KC all time.
  • In July 2021, the Royals traded Danny Duffy to the Dodgers for cash and a player to be named. Duffy never pitched for the Dodgers.
  • If the Dodgers went to the 2015 World Series, they would have faced the Royals, who eventually won the world championship.
  • Zack Greinke, who reached the Major Leagues with the Royals and is pitching for them now, pitched for the Dodgers from 2012 to 2015 and performed fantastically while in Los Angeles.
  • The Royals are in last place in the mediocre American League Central Division with only 23 wins, and the Dodgers trail the Diamondbacks by two games for the National League Western Division lead.
  • The Dodgers have the second most home runs, and the Royals have fifth least in the Major Leagues.

The Dodgers hope they can catch the Diamondbacks over the weekend before heading home to welcome the Pittsburgh Pirates.
