Former Dodger Hanser Alberto Makes Chicago White Sox Big League Roster

Former Dodgers infielder/reliever Hanser Alberto has found a home on a big league roster for the 2023 season. The 30-year-old has had an impressive spring for the Chicago White Sox, and earned himself a spot on the team’s Opening day roster (per James Fegan of the The Athletic).

Alberto signed a minor league deal with the White Sox back in January after the Dodgers declined his option, and had no guarantees of playing with the big league club this season. However, he’s had an impressive spring, which convinced Chicago to give him an opportunity.

Alberto has put up pretty insane numbers this spring, slashing .450/.476/.800 with two home runs, six doubles, one triple and six RBIs in 42 plate appearances. His OPS is an incredible 1.276, so it’s no wonder he earned himself an opportunity with the White Sox.

Last year in 159 plate appearances with the Dodgers, Alberto had just two home runs and nine doubles. So, in about a quarter of the plate appearances this spring, he’s pretty much matched his extra-base hit totals from last year.

Hopefully Alberto is able to keep this up, and remain with the White Sox all year long. Also, if they find themselves in some blowouts, hopefully he’s able to continue to play as a two-way player. Best of luck to Hanser in Chicago this year! If he’s able to stick around until the middle of June, he’ll make his return to Dodger Stadium on June 13-15 when the White Sox come to Los Angeles.
