Former Dodgers All-Star Yasiel Puig Signs With Familiar Team

Former Dodgers All-Star Yasiel Puig will be playing baseball in 2024. Over the weekend, he signed with the Aguila of Veracruz in the Mexican Baseball League, per Francys Romero.

Puig played with this team in 2021, and will report in early April.

Puig appeared to confirm the news on his personal X account:

Puig has been trying to make a comeback in Major League Baseball, and reportedly had MLB teams interested in him this offseason.

However, clearly nothing came to fruition, as Puig is heading to Mexico to continue his baseball career.

Puig began his career back with the Dodgers in 2013, and enjoyed six exciting years in Los Angeles where he hit 108 home runs, drove in 331 RBIs and made one All-Star team.

In the 2019 offseason, the Dodgers traded Puig to the Cincinnati Reds, who traded him to Cleveland later that season.

That’s the last MLB action Puig saw, as he’s bounced around multiple international leagues, including playing in the Dominican Winter League, Mexican League, Venezuelan Winter League and the Korean Baseball Organization.

Puig was involved in a brawl in the Venezuelan League this offseason, as he tried to play peacemaker but was hit in the face.

  1. The Wild Horse just never could be tamed and that cost him his MLB career after the Dodgers. Too bad to because he had a canon for an arm but could never get serious enough about the game to be more than a splash in the pan after his rookie season. His base running errors were legendary. He was hard to coach basing all his actions on natural talent. Just too much mustard on this hot dog!

    1. He wasn’t treated fairly. He should have been given another chance He has done far less negative acts then others who were resigned for lots of money
