Former Dodgers Infielder Signs With NL West Rival Diamondbacks

Former Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Kolten Wong has found a new home. According to the Arizona Diamondbacks’ Triple-A affiliate, the Reno Aces, Wong has agreed to a minor league deal with the club.

The Aces announced via X.

Wong spent the last half of the 2023 season with the Boys in Blue. He joined the Dodgers in mid-August, signing a minor league contract with the club. The 33-year-old was called up to the 40-man roster on Sept. 1. In his debut at-bat, he hit a three-run home run. Wong played 20 games for the Dodgers and slashed .300/.353/.500 with an .853 OPS.

The two-time Gold Glover spent most of his career with the St. Louis Cardinals. After that, he bounced around from team to team. He spent two seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers and half the 2023 season with the Seattle Mariners.

In late Feb. 2024, Wong signed a minor league deal with the Baltimore Orioles. However, a month later, he triggered the opt-out clause in his contract, and Baltimore released him two days later. The Hawaii native will look to make the major league roster, but in all likelihood, he will establish himself in Triple-A first.
