Former Dodgers Left-Hander Signs Minor League Deal With Reds
Former Los Angeles Dodgers left-handed relief pitcher Justin Bruihl has found a new home.
The three-year Dodger has signed a minor league deal with the Cincinnati Reds with an invitation to Major League camp. The Reds made the announcement on X/Twitter on Wednesday.
Bruihl, 26, spent his first three seasons with the Boys in Blue. In three seasons, he recored a 3.65 ERA, 43 strikeouts and a 1.20 WHIP in 65 games and 66.2 innings pitched.
The left-handed pitcher split his time in L.A. between the majors and minors. He started his 2023 season with the Triple-A Oklahoma City Dodgers, and in 20 games last season with the big-league club, he recorded 19 strikeouts and a 4.07 ERA in 24.1 innings. However, he pitched his final game with the Dodgers on July 25 against the Toronto Blue Jays, before being designated for assignment three days later.
Bruihl finished his 2023 season with the Colorado Rockies after being traded on August 1. His time in Colorado was forgettable, as he recorded a 14.73 ERA in seven games and 3.2 innings pitched while only recording three strikeouts.
Bruihl will now be with his third team in MLB, looking to make an impact on the big-league roster at some point next season.
