Former Dodgers OF AJ Pollock Back in NL West, Traded to San Francisco Giants

Former Dodgers outfielder A.J. Pollock is back in the NL West. On Monday, just under 24 hours before the trade deadline, the San Francisco Giants added the former LA fan favorite from the Seattle Mariners along with utilityman Mark Mathias, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported.

Dodger fans have wanted Pollock back in LA ever since they traded him ahead of the 2022 season for closer Craig Kimbrel. Pollock spent the 2022 season with the Chicago White Sox, and has been with the Seattle Mariners this season. However, he’s endured his worst year as a pro, hitting just .173 with five home runs, 15 RBIs and an OPS of .547.

The Giants have been looking for offensive help, so settling on Pollock is a little interesting. However, they’re hoping to get him back to being the player he was with LA in 2021, when he slashed .297/.355/.536 with 21 home runs and 69 RBIs in 117 games.

Dodger fans who have missed Pollock will get to see him again on September 21 when the Giants come to town for a four-game series. It will be weird for Dodger fans to see him back at Dodger Stadium, but it’ll be even weirder considering he’ll be in a Giants uniform.

For Pollock, this is now his third NL West team, after spending the first seven years of his career with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
