Max Muncy Says He Wants to Stay With Dodgers For Rest of His Career

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Max Muncy is determined to remain a Dodger for the rest of his career. Muncy has already been with the Dodgers since 2018, and now wants to finish his career with the team. Prior to becoming a Dodger, Muncy played for the Oakland Athletics in 2015 and 2016.

However, Muncy knows he has to improve defensively to maintain his worth to the team. With Shohei Ohtani now on board, there’s no longer room for Muncy to be a designated hitter on the team.

“I’ve been very open about how I want to stay here for the rest of my career,” Muncy said. “And let’s be real – there’s not really a DH spot anymore. So if I want to play here, I need to make sure I’m in the field, and the best way to do that is just put myself in a good spot.”

Improving defense has been the goal heading into this season for Muncy. After a poor defensive season for the Dodgers in 2023, Muncy expressed that he was dissatisfied with his performance, and aims to be better.

Muncy has also received encouragement from his teammates and manager Dave Roberts, who all have expressed that Muncy looks to have put himself in a good position to succeed this year with his offseason regimen.

The good news for the 33-year-old Muncy is that his current future with the Dodgers is secure, as the two-time All-Star signed a two-year, $24 million deal with the franchise in the offseason. The deal also includes a $10 million club option for 2026.
