MLB Insider Confirms Dodgers Interest in Blake Snell This Offseason

The Dodgers offseason has started and already they are being linked to the majority of big-name free agents on the market. LA plans to be aggressive in adding talent to their team this winter, especially within their starting rotation.

One name that could make sense for them is starter Blake Snell, who just finished a great year with the rival San Diego Padres that concluded in his second Cy Young award. MLB Insider Jon Heyman appeared on MLB Network and was asked where the biggest interest in Snell was coming from, and he confirmed the Dodgers interest in their fierce rival.

“So I think the Giants, Dodgers, Padres all in on him.”

If the Dodgers were to go after Snell, they would be getting one of the best pitchers in the game today. They would also be adding in a guy who has dominated them over the years, so at least they wouldn’t have to face him anymore.

But Snell was absolutely dominant in 2023, posting an ERA of 2.25 and a WHIP of 1.19 in 32 starts with the Padres. He also struck out 234 batters over 180 innings of work, showing his innate ability to get punchouts.

Snell would immediately slot in at the top of the Dodgers starting rotation, and he would give them a solid left-handed pitcher that they have been missing. Especially with Clayton Kershaw expected to miss a good chink of time next season if he were to return, Snell could fill that role.

The biggest hurdle with getting Snell into the Dodgers organization may be his agent. He is a Scott Boras client, and Boras clients don’t typically sign with LA. Boras and the Dodgers normally don’t see eye to eye, so that could prohibit Snell from joining.

LA really can’t go wrong with going after any of the top-tier pitchers on the free-agent market, and they plan to be aggressive in doing so. The front office knows that they were embarrassed over the last two seasons by division rivals, so they want to make sure that it never happens again.

  1. Maybe it’s time for Dodgers and Boras to patchi things up and get along. We certainly can use Snell in the rotation and Dodgers have the means to sign him.

  2. I would be really happy if the Dodgers would sign Snell and Yamamoto!…..And say no to Ohtani!
