MLB Network Releases Video On Dodgers’ Season And Journey
This season has been filled with memories that will last a lifetime. From Cody Bellinger getting called up early in the season, to Chris Taylor becoming a superstar, to Clayton Kershaw going down for the second year in a row, the season has been an emotional roller coaster. It’s difficult to describe, really, how this season has transpired. The Dodgers went from a team that couldn’t lose to a team that couldn’t win in the blink of an eye.
All of us fans lived through it, but if you know anybody who hasn’t, or just need a reminder for yourself, this video from MLB Network is a must-watch.
Five division titles in five years. Is 2017 the year the @Dodgers capture their first #WorldSeries title since 1988? pic.twitter.com/JM8zVj8cYI

The way the video opens with Vin Scully’s voice is perfect, just like catching up with an old friend. Then the music begins and the analysts jump in, and it’s all hype for the next minute or so. It covers Cody Bellinger, winning 20 games out of 23, and so much more. Then the music becomes somber and covers Clayton Kershaw going on the disabled list, and what that meant at the time.
I think this is where the video gets really good. The video shows Yu Darvish becoming a Dodger and includes amazing calls by Joe Davis. It then leads into the 43-7 run and all of the amazing moments that led up to the Sports Illustrated cover. You didn’t think it would be all positive, did you?
All of a sudden the video becomes a montage of frustrated Dodgers, including a powerful clip of Kershaw throwing his glove in the dugout. The analysts grow critical, the fans begin to boo, and the mood completely changes.
Then, in the last few seconds, a glimmer of hope begins to build. Dave Roberts says that the team will win the NL West, Yasiel Puig is dancing with champagne flying, and Joe Davis ends it with this quote from Vin:
Vin always talked about it’s never been easy. That’s what being a Dodger is about.
Like I said, describing the season and all of its ups and downs is difficult. So much happened that it’s nearly impossible to express that emotion with words alone. This video from MLB Network did an excellent job at showing, not just how the season played out, but what is next and why you should still have hope in the Dodgers this year!
