Let us start this by saying there is no way as of now to confirm the validity of the reports flying around the internet concerning this particular MLB rumor. Francys Romero, a BBWAA writer, and journalist is reporting that Yasiel Puig is close to signing a deal with the San Francisco Giants.
Romero has a heavy focus on the Cuban baseball community, so it makes sense that he would have the inside track to Puig rumors before most writers. As of now though, no other MLB writers have been able to remotely confirm.
Sources: Yasiel Puig is very close to sign with San Francisco Giants, a source tells me. The contract amount is unknown, but would have a one-year option.

Rumors had been pouring in about Puig all the way up until the shutdown of baseball due to COVID-19. The Giants were rumored to be heavily in on him early in the offseason, but the team also signed back Hunter Pence. That left little room on the roster for another outfielder. Puig also was reported to have turned down a one-year offer from another unknown MLB team.
If the Giants signed Puig, it would make sense in a way. Puig is entertaining, even when his playing performance is down. General Manager Farhan Zaidi is obviously familiar with Puig, having spent several years in the Dodgers organization. We will wait for other MLB reports to come out to further confirm the rumors.
