Mookie Betts Already Making Huge Impact on Dodgers Top Prospect Josue De Paula

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been dominating the baseball world as of late for so many reasons.

The most obvious and recent reason is the kind of offseason L.A. has had. Cy Young award-winning pitchers, international phenoms, and demonstrated difference-makers have all been acquired as the Dodgers look to become MLB’s first back-to-back champions in a quarter-century.

Another major reason is the kind of players assembled on the team. Not just in terms of talent, but in the kind of character that so many men in the clubhouse display everyday around the organization.

Mookie Betts is one of the most talented individuals every time he steps foot on the diamond, but one of the top prospects on the Dodgers revealed that Betts is making an even bigger impact off of it.

Josue De Paula is a right fielder who is quietly becoming one of the Dodgers best prospects.

Ranked at No. 40 on the MLB’s 2025 Prospect Rankings, he is only 19 years old and provides a left-handed bat to the team.

He talked to Dodgers Nation’s Doug McKain about what it has been like to share a clubhouse with some of baseball’s best in Betts, Shohei Ohtani, and Freddie Freeman among other stars and what stands out in their routine.

“I guess their work ethic, how they go about their work day in and day out, their consistency of it but the only person I really got to talk to personally… was Mookie,” De Paula said. “Coolest dude ever, bro.”

As a former right fielder, it makes sense that Betts would talk to another talent in the outfield. De Paula also discussed some of the most impressive things he has seen about the eight-time All-Star.

“His ability to adapt is just crazy and like I said based on those other guys too it’s just how they come in and go about their work everyday, it’s impressive.”

De Paula hopes to keep perfecting his craft and play alongside the legends he has been admiring from afar at Dodger Stadium one day.
