Recent David Peralta Revelation Explains a Lot and Raises Even More Questions for Dodgers
Recent Dodger outfielder David Peralta struggled down the stretch to end his lone season in LA but a reason for such struggles may have been found.
Peralta underwent an elbow procedure to begin his offseason but several questions remain as to why the Dodgers allowed him to continue playing in 2023.
Peralta’s first half was nothing short of great as the long-time Diamondback switched sides to play for the Boys in Blue this season. Both Peralta and Jason Heyward were quite the pickups for Andrew Friedman in the latest success stories of LA’s reclamation project.
However, as Stephen mentioned, the veteran struggled mightily in the final three months of the season including a very rough NLDS series at the plate.
The Gold Glove finalist continued to get at-bats despite his obvious injury but why the Dodgers wouldn’t report his condition throughout the season. Peralta’s hot start quickly fizzled out and the medical staff at Chavez Ravine now face serious questions after another elbow injury on the roster.
Dodgers executive Andrew Friedman faced criticism at the trade deadline for a lack of blockbuster moves but the buy-low transactions looked great throughout the team’s hot August.
Tony Gonsolin underwent Tommy John surgery after a string of starts that looked anything but his 2021 self.
Even with issues present for the starter, Gonsolin didn’t report his elbow troubles until news broke that he needed the dreaded elbow procedure to end his season.
Not only do the Dodgers’ medical staff share the blame for their shady handling of Peralta’s elbow, but the blame also falls on Friedman’s shoulders for not finding his suitable replacement.
LA’s lack of transparency continues to frustrate the Dodger faithful and another long offseason awaits with plenty more questions abound.
