Ryan Pepiot Thanks Dodgers Organization on Instagram Following Trade to Rays

In acquiring their new ace Tyler Glasnow, the Dodgers traded away young RHP Ryan Pepiot. Pepiot, beloved by fans, made his mark on the organization with his wicked change-up and trademark stirrups.

Following his trade to the Rays, Pepiot took to Instagram to thank the organization that drafted him.

The Dodgers drafted Pepiot from Butler University back in 2019. He spent three years working his way through the minors before making his major league debut in 2022.

Right away fans saw what all the fuss was about with Pepiot. While wild at times, he threw a changeup that basically had the shape of a slider if he was left-handed.

He never blew anyone away with gaudy strikeout numbers. The sinking action on that changeup, paired with a good four-seam fastball, allowed him to induce a lot of groundballs. This limited baserunners and overall helped him keep runners from scoring.

After an impressive showing in 2022, he rightfully earned a starting spot in the Dodgers’ rotation for 2023. Unfortunately, an oblique injury delayed his start to the 2023 campaign.

When he did finally take the mound, he announced his presence with authority. Whether as a starter or piggyback option, Pepiot mowed through hitters during his limited year.

He showed better command of his pitches in his second year, too. In 42 innings pitched, he had a much improved 2.14 ERA while only walking an astonishing five batters.

All of this increased his trade value immensely. So much so that the Rays traded away a pitcher with some of the best “stuff” in baseball.

His stint with the big league club was short-lived, but he definitely left an impression on L.A. fans. All the best to him in Tampa, as they added a little pep in their step.

  1. This I will remember. Not knowing how Pepiot would have pitched in the must win game against Arizona.Say thanks to “Dave”.

  2. I am happy for Pepiot. Now he will get a chance to pitch every day and not be blocked by inured retreads and AF dumpster pickups.

  3. If they gave the money that’s been reported for a Judy hitter and a injury prone pitcher, af is insane they, for more money, would have got yamamoto.this will come back to haunt the team. I think deluca by accident would hit more home runs than Margot. And we know Yamamoto is better than the new ace
