Shohei Ohtani Will Have to Participate in Hilarious Initiation With Dodgers Teammates

The Los Angeles Dodgers have a rich tradition of camaraderie and team bonding, especially during the grueling 162-game season.

They always seem to have great team chemistry, and that was one of the reasons they were so successful in 2023 despite all the changes in the offseason.

This year, a ton of new faces will be joining the mix, meaning it could take some time for the Dodgers to build the chemistry they saw last season.

However, the Dodgers already have a plan in place for making that transition quick.

The Dodgers have a very unique tradition for new player initiation that veteran infielder Miguel Rojas spoke about on The Chris Rose Rotation. He revealed that part of the team initiation involves sharing a personal story with the group, and failure to do so results in a hilarious consequence — sitting on the toilet of the team bus.

Shohei Ohtani may be the proud owner of a $700 million contract, but that doesn’t make him exempt from taking part in the tradition, according to Rojas.

“I’m telling you right now, Shohei. You better come prepared to your first bus trip. Because the rules are the rules. We want to know stories, how they become big major league players, and how everything started in Japan and stuff like that.”

Rose asked Rojas if there could be a deal in place about paying his teammates off to not have to tell a story.

“I’d rather have an Ohtani story for the rest of my life than $100,000.”

Despite Ohtani’s status as the best player in baseball, there remains a ton of mystery surrounding his life outside the ballpark. Clearly, Rojas is excited to learn more about his new teammate, and he’s likely not alone among the rest of the Dodgers.

So, come the team’s first bus trip, Ohtani better be ready to share a story with new teammates — unless, of course, he prefers to just sit on the toilet.
