Should the Dodgers Sign Josh Hader? Fans Weigh In

We have officially entered the second half of the MLB offseason, and tons of great players remain on the market.

Blake Snell, Cody Bellinger, Teoscar Hernandez and Josh Hader are some of the many former All-Stars looking for their next home, and the Dodgers remain in the mix for many of them.

The Dodgers don’t have any huge needs as we head into the 2024 season, but they still could use another back-end starter and a right-handed bat.

However, if they wanted to upgrade their team, they could look to sign the best closer on the market in Hader.

Hader’s team has said they want a contract that surpasses Edwin Diaz’s five-year, $102 million deal, but thus far, no reports have said that a team has offered him what he wants.

So, if his price continues to drop, the Dodgers could be among the teams to sign him.

Over on X, we asked our fans if they wanted to see the Dodgers sign Josh Hader. Of the over 3,000 voters, 54 percent of them answered “yes.”

As our own Doug McKain spoke about on the Dodgers Nation YouTube Channel (video above), the Dodgers should make a play for Hader if he falls into their lap.

Having Hader on the Dodgers would not only give them arguably the best bullpen in baseball, but it would make Dave Roberts’ job much easier in terms of who to deploy in the ninth inning.

Additionally, it would allow Evan Phillips to slide back into the “fireman” role he thrived in during the 2022 season, truly lengthening the L.A. bullpen next season.

The Dodgers aren’t going to give Hader the six-figure contract he’s looking for, but if his market continues to drop, the Dodgers would be wise to get the best closer in baseball on a team that’s planning to go far into October.

  1. “The Dodgers aren’t going to give Hader the six-figure contract he’s looking for”

If Hader wants a six figure contract, the Dodgers should give him exactly what he wants.

    1. THIS! Besides, we have Hurt at AAA who will be at camp next month. If he looks the part, let him run with it. Under team control for a few more years. Spend the money on SP, LF, and Kike…

  2. Why spend all that $$$ on Hader. He’s really good but can also be had (we’ve gotten to him at his peak). Our pen is top-10 already. Use those resources to bring in a corner OF spot.

  3. I’d love to see Hader with dodgers ! In past seasons that 7-8-9 inning were nightmare . Having him exclusively for the 9 th could secure many wins. Plus thinking a a bit wider , having hader secures the fact that dodgers wouldn’t have to face him in play offs !

  4. At the right price. The longer he doesn’t sign the better for the dodgers. We’ve seen this before with Freddie freeman when he signed in March.

  5. I would love to see Hader in a Dodgers uniform, but his asking price is too high, (for a closer ). I think we should get Clase from Cleveland. He’s the next best option.

  6. We need a closer. End the games the games with our bull pin threw the 6,7,8 innings. Hader would be the cherry on top.

  7. We definitely need Hader to close out games that we didn’t do last season. Plus it gives Robert better options with his great reliever staff!! Less need for starters go deeper and stress their arms.
