The Rise and Fall of Former Dodgers Pitcher Julio Urias

Julio Urias signed with the Dodgers when he was 16 years old, and over the years rose to become a consistent member of the starting rotation. He helped the team win the 2020 World Series and was seen as a staple of the organization.

The former Dodgers starting pitcher Julio Urias is currently a free agent, but he won’t be returning to the Dodgers in 2024. The team has distanced themselves from him since an arrest in early September where he was suspected of domestic battery.

The incident happened following an LAFC match in Los Angeles, and he was released on bail the following morning. Shortly after the arrest, the Dodgers removed murals around Dodger Stadium, as well as took down memorabilia that showed his name. His locker in the clubhouse was taken away, as well.

Urias was placed on paid administrative leave while Major League Baseball conducted its investigation into the matter. Local law enforcement agencies received video evidence after he was released on bail, which led them to conduct their own investigation.

Earlier this month, the law enforcement agencies concluded their investigation and turned the case over to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. They will now determine whether any criminal charges will be made against Urias.

The rise and fall of Urias has been a notable one. Our very own Doug McKain detailed the career of Urias below, from the start of his MLB journey until where the situation currently stands.

  1. Wild! I just hate too see this for him. he’s still got a good arm tho. Man, such talented player. I really hope he can come back.

      1. He’s not a bad man. Just a fella from a real small village who gets thrust into the limelight circus of MLB, with plenty of sketchy hangers-on and skeezy golddiggers at every turn. Its easy to get lost

    1. Sorry, no matter how good an arm, if he can’t control his temper and abuses his wife or others, he has torched his career in baseball. Abusing a woman is not popular in the Inited Ststes. Period.

      1. Oh really? Nobody seems to see anything wrong with NFL players who beat their wives and girlfriends to a pulp and get no more than a 1 or 2 game suspension.

  2. Good riddance…no room for DV in baseball or any other profession and I’m proud of tbe organization to take a stand on this issue.

  3. I would rather work on helping Urias rehabilitate his poor behaviors and give him a reasonable contract than sign Hader with what I understand is his poor approach to the LGBTQ + community.

    1. Hader is not beating women. Urius has now done it TWICE! We forgave him round 1. EVERYBODY has an opinion on LGBWhatever. I have mine! Shoveling it in our faces gets on my nerve and children too. I hope Urius gets help, and doesn’t play ball for MLB again for a few years. Urius is a rebel and borderline gangsta. I see it in his HUMBLE maner.

      1. Youre supposed to play ball, not play politics. You know, Orel Hershiser is the most Born Again Christian Dodger that I know, and he never pushes it in your face. He saves his preaching for the church.

  4. We don’t need this in our family oriented team. He did it before. He messed up a second time after a slap on the wrist. His fault, dug his own grave. Unfortunately, his arm and him helping in the WS doesn’t matter, when family is everything to the organization. I wish him well. Someone will pick him up, a team with less family focus. I haven’t seen a team like it. Maybe he needs a hard lesson and go back to Sinaloa or triple A

    1. Family oriented team? Really? With the tranny nuns? Their moral credibility went down the toilet last June as far as I’m concerned.

  5. There’s suppose to be video on this so called woman beating. We need to see it to believe it.Still waiting!
