Trea Turner Rumors: Phillies Remain Top Landing Spot for Dodgers Free Agent

The 119th MLB season is over, but that doesn’t mean the baseball talk stops. Free agency is in full motion, and the rumors are hot and heavy.

The Dodgers are in the running at landing at least one of the top free agents in the market, and they are bound to get one of the top guys.

One of the top guys on the market is Trea Turner. The speedy Turner was a Dodger for a season and a half and was phenomenal in Dodger blue. Andrew Freidman acquired Max Scherzer and Trea in a blockbuster deal in the summer of 2021 that made the Dodgers even more of a championship favorite, but they’ve failed to win one despite the talent.

Trea can go anywhere he wants, even though the Dodgers are a top-five favorite for Turner to return MLB network broadcaster Jon Morosi says an NL East team is the most likely to acquire the shortstop.

“First off, the Phillies, for a variety of reasons a lot of people here believe the Phillies are perhaps the most likely landing spot of all for Trea Turner. Let’s begin with his close friendship with Bryce Harper, going back to their time with the Nationals. That is one element here, where Trea would love to play with Bryce again.”

According to BetOnline.ag, The Phillies have the best odds of acquiring Trea at 5/2 if he does not sign back with the Boys in Blue.

MLB Senior writer of the Atheltic Jayson Stark appeared on Philly’s 97.5 The Fanatic and said he’s heard some talk of Trea wanting to play in the city of Brotherly Love.

However, nothing tangible has happened in the front yet; it’s all talk right now. It could take some time for Trea to decide, or it can occur within the next few days.

Trea will do what is best for himself and if that’s playing on the east coast again, then more power to him.

  1. I also get the feeling that Dodgers are are basically ready to move on without him.

  2. Major error not working on an extension last off season. Could have known what chances of signing him a year ago. Looks like they are headed downscale now. Went from Judge, to Turner, to Correa, to Dansby, to Lux, to Amaya. Headed to Max and Justin splitting time at SS and third. Cody, Muncie, CT3 they seem determined to throw money to people who can’t hit.

  3. The Dodgers should give Trea a blank check and do anything they can to get him to return.
I sure would hate to see them sign Correa. If the Dodgers do that, they will lose half of their fanbase, lower attendance, merchandise sales, etc. Can you imagine anyone walking around L.A. with a Correa jersey?

  4. Turner is a top tier player that will make some other team better while Fraudman and his Adams family asst Gomez just let him walk. If you look closely Preller and Zahari are out maneuvering him at every turn. Cannot believe Magic Johnson will allow this to continue. Step up make the big moves and claim that championship!

  5. It always amazes me how expert sportwriters are all knowing about where free agents are going but are rarely right. Trea Turner will go where the money and championship opportunity is right…hopefully it’s with the Dodgers! Meanwhile the Dodgers have the wherewithal and the money to put together another team to make a run at the world series no matter what players might be involved.

  6. Turner wasn’t thrilled when he was traded to the west coast. Made it known early he was playing out his contract. Family on the east coast. However, he said he learned to like LA. If Monet close he goes east. Otherwise, could stay in LA.
