Tyler Glasnow Makes His Pitch for Yoshinobu Yamamoto to Join Dodgers

After landing two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani, the Dodgers front office now has their sights set on landing free-agent pitcher Yoshonobu Yamamoto. He is the prize of the offseason with Ohtani off the board, and the Dodgers are doing their best to land him.

The team traded for starter Tyler Glasnow from the Tampa Bay Rays recently, but they know that they have more work to do. Yamamoto would represent their goal of bringing in two ace-level starters this winter if they are able to sign him.

L.A. met with Yamamoto last week, and they pulled out all the stops. They had multiple players attend the meeting, including Ohtani.

Ohtani has been recruiting Yamamoto to come to Los Angeles, as the two have a history together from their time with Team Japan. Yamamoto would become the Dodgers’ front-line ace for the foreseeable future.

Glasnow made a pitch to Yamamoto while on the Foul Territory show, giving him a taste of what Ohtani did to him before he signed an extension with L.A.

“You’d have the best life on and off the field, the weather like I said before. You get to play with Shohei Ohtani, you can do a lot of things like on the field, then there’s a lot of off-market opportunities that are outside of the field. You’ll never be bored.”

Glasnow shares the same agent as Yamamoto, but to this point, he said his agent is keeping things close to the chest. Having Yamamoto and Glasnow headline the rotation this coming season would create a lethal one-two punch for the Dodgers.

The new Dodger continued his pitch to the Japanese pitching sensation, giving him a glimpse into how the fanbase is. Glasnow is from Southern California, and grew up a fan of the Dodgers, so he knows all about the fanbase.

“You know the fans are good, not like a super heavy negative influence. It’s not like the city or the media wishing for you to do bad, it’s a lot more everyone wants to do well.

It remains to be seen if Glasnow’s pitch will get back to Yamamoto, but we can hope that it does. We’ll see if Glasnow is as good a recruiter as Ohtani.
