Walker Buehler, Yoshinobu Yamamoto Throw Bullpens at Dodgers Camp

Friday was the first official workout for pitchers and catchers at Camelback Ranch. Tons of old and new faces are in Dodgers camp this year, and they already seem to be getting acquainted.

Walker Buehler and his new starting pitcher mate, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, played catch in warmups on Friday, before both threw bullpen sessions.

Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic got videos of both players throwing:

Gavin Lux, who stood in at the plate for both Buehler and Yamamoto, had high praise for the Dodgers’ starting pitchers.

Yamamoto became the highest-paid pitcher in MLB history this offseason when the Dodgers signed him to a 12-year, $325 million deal.

As for Buehler, he missed all of 2023 recovering from his second Tommy John surgery, and won’t be ready for Opening Day.

However, he’s clearly making progress, and will use this camp to continue to check off boxes before making a return to the mound early in the season.

Buehler is entering free agency for the first time in his career after this season, so he’ll look to have a huge season in his contract year.
