What’s Next for the Dodgers Following Roki Sasaki, Tanner Scott Signings?

The Los Angeles Dodgers have absolutely crushed the offseason. From signings to reunions, the Dodgers have had a busy and successful winter.

As a way to bask in the accomplishments of the last couple of months, let’s recap the transactions that have transpired this offseason.

Dodgers Offseason in Review 2024-25

The Dodgers first focused on an internal task and extended utility man Tommy Edman. Less than a month after winning the World series, the Dodgers made their first blockbuster move by signing free agent ace Blake Snell.

The addition of the two-time Cy Young winner left baseball fans grumbling, but the Dodgers continued.

On the eve of the Winter Meetings, the Dodgers brought back their top reliever of 2024 in Blake Treinen. The team also agreed to a deal with outfielder Michael Conforto that same night.

The next move seemed inevitable, but there were a few bumps in the road. Nevertheless, the Dodgers re-signed Teoscar Hernández, a huge boost on the field and in the clubhouse.

Just hours before Hernández’s official press conference, it was reported the Dodgers had signed free agent infielder Hyeseong Kim. Although the Dodgers said they felt they didn’t need to make any trades after the signing of Kim, second baseman Gavin Lux was traded just days after.

Then, one of the most popular storylines of the offseason came to a conclusion. On Friday, Roki Sasaki announced he would be joining the Dodgers on his Instagram.

And finally, Tanner Scott joined the Dodgers Sunday morning in a move that sent shockwaves across MLB.

What Moves Will the Dodgers Make Next?

While many baseball fans are angry with the Dodgers for their success this offseason, there are still a couple moves to be made.

The Dodgers have yet to orchestrate a reunion with utility man Kiké Hernández. The fan favorite returning to Los Angeles seemed unlikely after the signing of Kim, since he was speculated to play a super utility role for the team. However, since Lux was traded, a path for Hernández’s return is now possible.

Next, the Dodgers haven’t addressed whether Clayton Kershaw will be returning in 2025. There is a general consensus the veteran will be returning, but he remains a free agent less than a month before spring training begins.

After those two moves, the final task the Dodgers need to accomplish is extending manager Dave Roberts.

The Dodgers have made it known they wanted to finalize the roster before extending their manager. Now, all focus can shift to making Roberts the highest-paid manager in MLB history.

  1. I think another remaining question is if the team decided to hold onto Chris Taylor, attempts to trade him (with a prospect and/or cash), or just waives him to make room for younger (probably more effective) players on the roster.
