Who’s Pitching for the Dodgers in NLCS Game 6 vs the Mets?

The Dodgers will have to deploy a bullpen game for Game 6 of the 2024 NLCS against the Mets at Dodger Stadium on Sunday night. Los Angeles will turn to relievers like Ryan Brasier, Michael Kopech, Anthony Banda, Blake Treinen, and Daniel Hudson to aid the Dodgers in earning the final win to reach the World Series.

The Dodgers couldn’t get the job done in Game 5 of the NLCS, which will bring the series back to Chavez Ravine.

The good news is that the entire bullpen is rested and ready to go. The Dodgers bullpen in Game 6 of the NLCS will try to replicate their lights out performance in Game 4 of the NLDS.

Against the Padres, the bullpen held San Diego to nine scoreless innings in the Dodgers’ 8-0 victory. It was the perfect bullpen game.

The only reliever that won’t be available for the Dodgers this time around is Alex Vesia, who sustained a rib-cage injury in the final game of the NLDS. However, the reliever remains hopeful he will be available for the World Series if the Dodgers advance. Brent Honeywell, who pitched 4.2 innings on Friday, is unlikely to be available for Sunday’s game, too.

Jack Flaherty ended his Game 5 start after three innings. He allowed eight runs, eight hits, four walks, and had no strikeouts. His performance in Games 1 and 5 were practically night and day.

In Game 1 of the NLCS, Flaherty pitched seven scoreless innings. It was the first time since Clayton Kershaw in 2020 that a Dodgers starting pitcher went that deep into a game.

To the Dodgers’ dismay, Flaherty didn’t have it Friday night at Citi Field. He allowed the third-most runs of his MLB career in Game 5.

The Dodgers hope to wrap up their matchup with the Mets Sunday night. That won’t be able to happen unless the bullpen comes through.

Relievers will be tasked with earning 27 outs to help the Dodgers advance to their first World Series since 2020. If the Dodgers don’t win game 6, Walker Buehler or Yoshinobu Yamamoto will have to pitch on short rest in a Game 7.

  1. Buehler would be going on “regular” rest for Game 7 (Monday – 10/21/24), having started Game 3 (Wednesday – 10/16/24).

  2. Who could complain, the Dodgers are actually going against all inconsistencies that have made them a predictable nightmare of mismanaged players the last few years..

If anything is commendable, the dodgers are getting contributions from their whole roster, Yes, Flayerty did a 180, from his form the last time out.
However, that’s baseball, and the ” back and forth momentum between LA and their counterparts has exemplified team effort and true baseball grit

Since neither the Mets and or Dodgers have put together consecutive wins in this series, the dynamic is certainly calling for Los Angeles to have good chemistry at Dodger Stadium tommarow.

I do think they have a tremendous advantage starting their relievers, and rotating them in a fashion that will likely not give the Mets hitters a normal expected chance to adjust to Dodger pitching.. I see it giving Mets trouble, Dodgers relievers will be pitching to 6–14 batters a piece,
That’s a really demanding call from the management..

Is it something that this team.will adapt to?
Well, I think it’s predicted on one great factor that is likely to lend to the dodgers pitching being extraordinarily formidable.. Look for long shots from the Dodgers bread and butter hitters,

If the Dodgers can put men on base with their power hitters at bat, it should be too much for the Mets to stop the bleeding considering the format the Mets face with relievers pitching 2 innings and giving it more than they would usually give in lieu of the situation they are pitching in..

I’m seeing either a laugher with the Mets brutalizing the dodgers in the first two innings or.. it will be Dodger pitching as traditionally relief on bringing them a 5-0 – 6-1 victory

  3. Buehler would not be pitching on short rest in Game 7. He would be pitching on regular rest (although if he had one more day of rest that would be better). Yamamoto won’t pitch in Game 7. This is the second year in a row in which the Dodgers, having close to the highest real payroll do not even have 4 starters to pitch in the post-season. This is not acceptable. They have about 18 potential starting pitchers in their system, but not even 4 to pitch in the post season. Despite all of this talent in the system, they should sign Burnes and trade for Crochet and for one of Seattle’s starters. Flaherty, Yamamoto, Buehler, Knack, are the only healthy starters who pitched during the regular season (one start for Casperios, a couple for Wrobleski) available for the post-season. That is not right. Glasnow, Dustin May, Stone, Gonsolin, Kershaw, River Ryan, Grove, Sheehan, Hurt, Frasso, all injured. Bobby Miller is probably injured. Ohtani was signed with the knowledge that he could not pitch this year, not anything the Dodgers can be faulted for. Something is wrong with the training and approach the team takes to keeping pitchers healthy. I have listed 18 starting pitchers currently on the 40-man roster or on the 60-day injured list. Two free agents, Flaherty and Buehler, may not return. Despite 16-18 potential starters likely available for some portion of 2025 (and Jackson Ferris), they still should seek to sign Burnes and trade for Crochet and one of the Seattle starters. Either that or embrace a policy of bullpen games every 5th or 6th game. Turn some of these injured starters into relievers.
