Austin Barnes Earns Ultimate Bragging Rights Over Dodgers Teammate Will Smith in WBC

Team USA and Team Mexico squared off against one another in the World Baseball Classic. The American squad features Dodgers stars Mookie Betts and Will Smith. Team Mexico has Julio Urias and Austin Barnes on the roster. So certainly bragging rights are on the line for these LA teammates.

While winning the game is the big thing to brag about, the two Dodger catchers had an opportunity to one-up each other in the contest in the fifth inning when Austin Barnes stole a base off Will Smith.

It’s the first time Dodgers catchers have faced off against each other in the WBC and Austin will definitely be holding it over Will’s head for a long time.

Mexico also holds the surprising 7-1 in the top of the 7th inning over Team USA.

UPDATE

Will Smith hit a home run in the bottom of the 7th with Barnes squatting right behind him catching evening the ledger between the two.

Barnes led off the top of the 8th inning and stole another base on a ball in the dirt that Smith couldn’t corral. The game within the game.
