Blake Treinen Still ‘Few Weeks Away’ From Returning to Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers have already suffered from a ton of injuries to their pitchers, both in the starting rotation and bullpen. It’s become the new normal over the past couple of years for the Boys in Blue, which is not ideal.

The Dodgers have several pitchers on the mend, including their top right-handed reliever, Blake Treinen. Treinen has yet to pitch this season due to a lung injury he suffered in an exhibition match a month ago.

While his return is much anticipated, manager Dave Roberts told Mike DiGiovanna from the Los Angeles Times that Treinen may still be a ways away.

“Blake Treinen, who hasn’t pitched since suffering a bruised lung when he was struck by a line drive in a March 9 exhibition game, threw in the bullpen Thursday and will begin facing hitters soon in preparation for a minor league rehab stint. But Roberts said the reliever is “still a few weeks away” from returning to the Dodgers bullpen.”

The 35-year-old took a shot to the lung/rib area on a hard comebacker against the Texas Rangers on March 9th.

He has been shut down for a while now, so he will need time to ramp things back up. Once Treinen gets back into a rhythm, there should be more of a timeline for the veteran to return

Treinen has not pitched for the Dodgers since Game 2 of the 2022 National League Division Series against the San Diego Padres. He spent last season recovering from shoulder surgery.

Things haven’t been smooth for Los Angeles; however, they hope their fortunate change soon enough with the return of Treinen along with the other notable pitchers on the mend.
