Bobby Miller Opens Up About Dodgers Getting Swept By Arizona in NLDS

The 2023 season was a very solid one for the Dodgers, at least in the regular season. LA cruised to another NL West title and somehow won 100 games again.

In a year that many expected them to take a step back, the Dodgers proved that they were still one of the best teams in baseball. But once again when the calendar flipped to October, the bright lights became too much for them to handle.

LA was swept at the hands of their division rivals, the Arizona Diamondbacks, and it was a very tough series for the team. Rookie pitching sensation Bobby Miller spoke to Kirsten Watson of SNLA and opened up about the team getting swept, and how it will fuel him going forward.

“Every day I think about it. I think about it every day,” Miller said. “Especially the ending. That’s something I’m never going to forget. You know getting my teeth kicked in, getting swept by a team. That’s something I’m never going to forget. Something I’ll keep in mind going into next season. It’s just going to make me hungrier every start.”

Miller didn’t perform up to his own standard in Game 2 of the NLDS. He gave up three runs in 1.2 innings of work before manager Dave Roberts took him out. It was a poor showing for the rookie, and not what anyone came to expect from the year he put together.

In 22 starts this season, Miller posted an ERA of 3.76 and a WHIP of 1.10. He also struck out 119 batters over 124.1 innings of work during his rookie year.

He was lights out for the Dodgers this past season, and the struggles that he saw in the postseason will only help him down the line. Miller is a fiery competitor, and he is going to use this to motivate him to be the best possible pitcher he can be.

Miller proved that he more than belonged on the big stage with the team, and they have all the faith in him moving forward. He will be given a rotation spot next season, and we can’t wait to see what he does for an encore next year.
