Clayton Kershaw, Rangers GM Chris Young Together At High School Honor

Longtime Dodgers ace and current free agent Clayton Kershaw was honored by his high school on Thursday with a jersey retirement ceremony. He wasn’t the only person getting honored, though.

Alongside Kershaw was the general manager of the Texas Rangers, Chris Young, also getting his jersey retired. The Highland Park Scots posted pictures of the two honorees on social media.

This is an incredible honor for Kershaw, and honestly, a little surprising it even took this long. He’s done nothing but dominate since debuting in Major League Baseball back in 2008.

All that domination has come with the Los Angeles Dodgers, but this offseason, Kershaw is yet to make a decision about his future.

It’s widely expected that he’s deciding between the Dodgers and hometown Rangers, so the fact that the Rangers’ GM got a little one-on-one time with Kershaw has to have Dodger fans a little nervous.

Kershaw underwent surgery to repair the glenohumeral ligament in his shoulder, and said he’s expecting to pitch sometime this summer. Thus, he’s in no rush to make his free agent decision, and can figure out what’s best for him and his family as he enters his age-36 season.

A majority of Dodger fans still want Kershaw back, as do his teammates and Dodger staffers. But as of now, Kershaw has given no information on where he’ll go, and when he’ll make his decision.

  1. If Kershaw wants to go down in history as a true icon, he signs with the Dodgers and retires a Dodger. A year or two in Texas would put a blemish on that. There are not that many Hall of Famers that can say they spent their entire career with one team. Besides, Kershaw wouldn’t look good in any other uniform. I think he knows that.

    1. He is a true icon if dodger or ranger for couple years but I agree Kershaw in anything other than a dodger uniform would suck.

  2. Love to have Kershaw back. He was a great pitcher for the Dodgers, and I loved watching his entire career. But the Dodgers were good to him also, stood by him during multiple injuries, and stayed with him after multiple miserable failures in many playoffs. But he is not a god, , if he wants to leave, so long – I’m not going to cry if he wants to finish his career with a team that has done nothing for him. We’ll move on. And when the Ds play the Rangers in the World Series, we’ll kick his ass.
