Dave Roberts Provides Massive Update on Contract Extension With Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers and manager Dave Roberts are in the final stages of contract extension talks, per Jack Harris of The Los Angeles Times.

“We’re at the one-yard line,” Roberts said. “Things are looking good. I’m optimistic. This is where I want to be, so I’m excited that things are getting done.”
There is speculation Roberts’ new contract with the Dodgers will make him the highest-paid manager in the history of Major League Baseball. Rumblings around the industry indicate the deal should be done by the time the Dodgers travel to Japan for the Tokyo Series, which would be Wednesday.
Roberts is the winningest manager in MLB, with a .627 clip. The Dodgers have made the playoffs every season since he became L.A.’s skipper. During Roberts’ tenure, the Dodgers have won eight division titles and four National League pennants.
Roberts also has two World Series titles and an NL Manager of the Year on his resume. There’s no doubt the Dodgers manager deserves a considerable contract given the success of the team during his tenure.
“I just think it all comes down to value. And I think whatever anyone does, they want their value. That’s kind of where I’m at. I’m hopeful things get done,” Roberts said earlier in the offseason.
“But it’s not (a goal) to be the highest-paid manager. If that’s the fallout, fine. But that’s not why I do my job. I do my job because I love baseball, I love the Dodgers and I love the players. But I do feel the body of work is pretty dang good.”
