Dodgers: Can Julio Urias Win the NL Cy Young over Sandy Alcantara?

Julio Urias has been the best pitcher on the best team in baseball all season long, especially during the second half. Urias has been the true ace of the Dodgers — consistently going out every five games and giving them a quality start.

When the Dodgers initially got to Sandy Alcantara of the Marlins back in August, the door opened up a bit on a potential Cy Young race in the National League.

Since then, Alcantara has been roughed up a few more times, firmly placing Urias into the Cy Young conversation.

Our Doug McKain has everything you need to know about Urias’ case for the award, and you can watch that here.

With the NL West already locked up, and the Dodgers on pace to clinch home-field advantage throughout the playoffs, the biggest thing to watch out for in this last month could be the award races.

While Urias is in the conversation for Cy Young, a couple Dodgers could be in the running for the MVP award as well.

As for Urias, if he does take home the Cy Young, he’ll be the first Dodger since Clayton Kershaw in 2014 to receive the honor.

After being snubbed from the award last season, and being snubbed from the All-Star Game this season, a Cy Young award would be a fitting end to Urias’ dominant campaign.
