Dodgers Fans React to the Clayton Kershaw News

The Los Angeles Dodgers are bringing back left-handed pitcher Clayton Kershaw for the 2024 season, meaning Kershaw will be in Dodger Blue for the 17th season of his career.

Both manager Dave Roberts and general manager Brandon Gomes shared they were in contact with Kershaw and open to a return this past weekend at DodgerFest. Now, the two sides are making this reunion happen.

Kershaw has spent all 16 years of his career with the Dodgers, since making his Major League debut with the team back in 2008. The veteran pitcher was potentially considering joining his hometown Texas Rangers, but opted to continue his career with the Dodgers.

Kershaw will likely not be ready to return until late summer, as he continues to recover from surgery on his left shoulder. This shoulder injury significantly hampered his effectiveness late during the 2023 season, resulting in the worst postseason start of his career, when he gave up six earned runs in 0.1 innings pitched.

However, that won’t be the last the fans get to see of Kershaw in Los Angeles, as he’s set to return for year 17.

Here are some of the best fan reactions to Kershaw staying with the Dodgers for another year.

Fans are also looking forward to seeing Kershaw get an opportunity to reach the 3,000 strikeouts club in Dodger Blue. Kershaw is currently just 56 strikeouts short of reaching this milestone. If he does hit this mark, he will become just the 20th pitcher in MLB history to do so.

Fans can’t wait to see Kershaw team up with Shohei Ohtani next season.

  1. Kershaw can pitch for the Dodgers until he’s 50….. if he can learn and master the KNUCKLEBALL ! When you have a go-to pitch like the KNUCKLEBALL, it makes an 85 mph fastball look like 95 mph ! With the $$$ that LA is laying out, they could surely HIRE Tom Candiotti or Charlie Hough to help Kersh master the KNUCKLEBALL ! One of Kershaw’s biggest assets is is KNOWLEDGE of the game and opposing hitters….Knuckleballers seem to pitch until they’re eligible for Medi-care….
