Dodgers Favored to Sign Blake Snell in Free Agency, Per Latest Odds

With one of the biggest free agent pitchers available this offseason, the Los Angeles Dodgers appear to be the favorite to sign him this offseason, and his name is not Shohei Ohtani.

Per Bookies, the Dodgers are listed as the favorite to sign Blake Snell this offseason with the odds +300.

Snell, 30, a left-handed pitcher who has spent his career split between the Tampa Bay Rays and the San Diego Padres is hitting free agency for the first time in his seven-year career.

Why Should LA Sign Blake Snell?

This past week, Snell was awarded as the NL Cy Young winner after pitching lights out for the Padres this last season.

In 32 games started this year, Snell pitched with a 14-9 record and held a 2.25 ERA, the lowest in the MLB. He also was third in strikeouts this past season with 234.

While most fans are drooling over the possibility of Shohei Ohtani wearing Dodger blue next year, that same kind of energy needs to be focused on Snell.

Last year, the Dodgers pitching rotation was decimated with injuries left and right as LA finished the season with nobody from the opening day roster except Clayton Kershaw.

In 2021, the Dodgers signed Trevor Bauer to a three-year $22.5 million deal as he was expected to take over from Kershaw and dignify himself as the ace of the staff.

Unfortunately, Bauer would find himself in legal trouble and would eventually be released from LA.

Since then, the Dodgers have had little luck with finding starting pitchers that can stay healthy as Kershaw is getting older and Tony Gonsolin, Walker Buehler, and Dustin May are starting to find themselves on the injured list more often than usual.

In his six-year career, Snell has never once dealt with a major injury and would be the perfect fit to lead this rotation in 2024.

  1. This (Blake Snell) is the signing I want to see almost as much as Ohtani.
If the can do this signing or (Yamamoto) quickly the Ohtani will come too.
Let’s hope the Dodgers get serious and move these talks quick and not try to go cheap or just this that somehow every one wants to play for the Dodgers.

    1. No way. Look at how many walks he gives up. Look at the men on base. Look at high pitch count. Good pitcher but not a Dodger style pitcher

  2. Snell would be a great signing , as he’d basically the LHP in a rotation that won’t have Kershaw until after the 2nd half begins and thats if he is re-signed at all. Would also want Yamamoto and Ohtani but we are in wait and see mode.

  3. Once again the Dodgers will wait to long and try to be cheap! The reason for all their talk now, is to get their fans to think earnestly that are really trying to sign this prime talent. This is only for fan consumption! Don’t watch what say, watch what they do!
